A woman with heavy make-up stepped out onto the deck, dressed in luxurious clothing and adorned with numerous accessories. Her square face combined with a distinctive long nose created a unique sight.
Her taste wasn’t terrible. If you ignored her face, her outfit was actually quite perfect, but her facial features were something that only plastic surgery could save.
“What a pair of lovely little children. There just happen to be two empty seats at my table, Murunfufu~”
A slightly cruel smile appeared on Devon’s lips. Even with a mask, certain things couldn’t be hidden. She was about to reach out and take a good look at the faces of the two kids, when she suddenly had an inexplicable feeling.
She couldn’t quite pinpoint what this feeling was, but as she looked at a pirate nearby, she suddenly picked up the whip at her waist and lashed out.
This is the weapon she is most used to. After a whoosh through the air, the whip left a bloody mark on the pirate’s chest.
“Strange, this feeling is strange…”
Looking at the pirate wailing on the ground, she hesitated slightly while looking at the weapon in her hand.
She couldn’t say exactly what was wrong, but something definitely felt off. She then drew a pistol and started shooting at the wailing pirate until the clip was empty.
“Cap…Captain, why? What did he do?”
“Nothing, I just suddenly felt something was wrong with him.”
If it were an ordinary person, they wouldn’t do such a thing even if they felt something was off. But she was different. As someone who pursued “freedom,” she took following her heart to the extreme.
When it came to choosing between her subordinates’ lives and her intuition, she trusted her intuition.
Although Devon was cruel, she had been fairly generous to her subordinates. Now, her actions made the surrounding pirates step back unconsciously.
“How did you two end up here?”
Looking at Page One and Ulti, Devon started to doubt their identities. Ever since they appeared, she had that strange feeling, and she thought there must be some connection.
Though she asked the question, she didn’t wait for the siblings to answer. She drew the sword from her waist with her other hand and aimed it at their necks.
Whether it was swords or guns, Devon was very skilled in them. Coming from a noble family, she was once a young lady of noble birth.
Her swordsmanship and marksmanship were both impeccable, yet they didn’t conform to the local aesthetic. Whether it was her personality and her appearance, in the eyes of the locals, she was anything but a young lady of noble birth.
In her pursuit of “freedom,” she eventually chose the path of a pirate.
She was confident she could skillfully peel off that face with her sword, but just as she swung her hand, it was firmly caught in mid-air.
“Impressive battle instincts. You’re the first rookie to detect something wrong.”
Ripples appeared in the air, and Olga’s figure materialized in front of Devon. Looking at Olga, who had appeared out of nowhere, Devon didn’t show much fear.
“Murunfufu~ So these brats were indeed suspicious. An ability to disguise? The New World is truly exciting…”
“I hope you can still say that in a few minutes. As a rookie, you’re not bad, but that’s all.”
After Olga took on the position of a Calamity, fewer people could see through her ability. Without her making the first move, it was rare for anyone to discover her presence.
Strictly speaking, Devon hadn’t discovered Olga. It was just her battle instincts that made her feel something was very wrong, forcing Olga to reveal herself through unconventional means to ensure the safety of her “bait.”
“Captain! She… she’s a high-ranking officer of the Beasts Pirates! It’s the Phantom!”
Devon wasn’t panicked, but that didn’t mean her subordinates weren’t scared. Having reached this position, although there were still many reckless young pirates, there were also many who knew the Emperor of the Sea’s infamous reputation.
Olga didn’t just undo her disguise; she also removed the disguise from the two pirate ships. Seeing the Shadow Fox and Mandrell’s pirate ship, both flying the Beasts Pirates’ flag, some of the more knowledgeable pirates couldn’t help but feel a sense of dread.
“Murunfufu~ You’re quite the big shot. So, what do you want? To recruit me?”
“Recruit you? No, I was just planning to exchange you for some pocket money. The things in your cabin are disgusting. Lord Arceus despises pirates like you the most.”
Earlier, she had already inspected the entire ship. That ‘collection’ made her feel utterly nauseated. Additionally, her appearance didn’t meet the recruitment standards of the Beasts Pirates.
Female pirates within the Beasts Pirates generally had decent looks, and Devon’s ugly appearance didn’t fit in with the Beasts Pirates’ style at all.
As an experienced fisherman, it’s important to protect the environment, even when catching scourges like scavenger fish.
“Disgusting? It seems you don’t understand art at all. This is the only way to ensure those things don’t wither away. You may be a bit lacking, but you can barely make the cut. You’re just someone who’s been out at sea a few years earlier. Do you really think you’re invincible?”
Even as a rookie, she had her pride. Hearing Olga belittle her collection made Devon very unhappy. The opponent’s identity didn’t scare her. She flicked her wrist, and the whip in her other hand lashed towards Olga.
But in mid-air, her whip inexplicably broke into several pieces, and the Olga in front of her turned into an illusory shadow.
“Why did you think the one who grabbed your arm was necessarily the real body?”
The surrounding environment rippled like the surface of water, and dark purple energy swept across the entire deck. The enemy pirates on the ship suddenly began to kill each other.
Strong individuals could easily crush weaker ones, but Olga was different. These newcomers to the New World, who were just beginning to understand Haki, stand no chance against her.
Instincts could alert Devon to something unusual, but they couldn’t help her turn the tide and win.
The Olga in front of Devon suddenly transformed into Elizabeth, whose hidden blade in her tail had just cut Devon’s whip.
And at her fingertips, Water-type energy had already gathered.
Seeing the rippling water, Devon felt a chill run down her spine, but before she could dodge, a claw wrapped in Dark-type energy struck her neck.
This time, it was Olga’s true body. The critical hit struck its mark, and Devon’s consciousness instantly went blank. Then, a Water Pulse hit its target, knocking her into the sea.
This illustrated the different factions within the Beasts Pirates. The brute force faction, led by Kaido, relied on raw strength for everything. However, a special cautious faction also emerged, with Olga being a representative.
In battle, even if the opponent’s strength was inferior, she would not choose to confront them head-on. Instead, she uses illusions to disrupt their judgment, delivering a fatal blow from the shadows, and at the same time, she teams up with Elizabeth to gang up on the opponent without caring about any fair play.
While she could win with brute force, it wasn’t necessary. If she could avoid them, there was no need to take any hits. This was her current combat philosophy.
This is related to her perverse personality and her experience surviving in the Sea King’s belly. Against opponents like Jack, people have an understanding about how they lost, but when they lose against Olga, many people become quite depressed.
